My Passport Stories: Where I’ve Been So Far 🌍✈️
I’ve been blessed to touch quite a few countries, each trip holding its own memories, lessons, and stories. Some were spontaneous, some were planned, and some completely changed how I see myself and the world.
Canada was my first international trip, way back in 5th grade with my dad. We took the tunnel over, and that memory still feels magical. I ended up going back many times, during college at Michigan State (including my 19-year-old casino run, lol), a trip to Niagara Falls, and a few more visits before I moved to Milwaukee in 2015.
In Kenya (2012), I traveled with a group, and it gave me a deeper appreciation for culture and community.
Jamaica has a special place in my story. I’ve gone twice, once with friends and once alone, because I thought I was in love (that’s a story for another blog post, lol).
Cuba (2015) was an unforgettable trip with my friend.
In 2018, I celebrated my dad’s 50th birthday in Dubai, which was unforgettable. The luxury, the architecture, and the way the city seemed to mix tradition with futuristic energy made it a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
In 2022, I ventured out to Honduras and Egypt. It was a powerful year of exploration and expansion.
Costa Rica (2024) brought me peace, nature, and a sense of connection.
Colombia has been more than just travel for me. I went in 2019 (got my veneers done there) and again in 2023.
In Puerto Rico (2025), I found a whole new kind of joy and island energy.
Mexico was my first “grown-up” trip back in 2007 during freshman year of college. Let’s just say: hello, debt. I went again later for my friend’s wedding, where I was a bridesmaid. Both times, I left with tattoos (yep, another blog-worthy story coming soon).
One of my most humbling trips was Ghana (2019) with my dad. We went to visit his village, Abeadze Kyeaker, where he is one of the chiefs. Being welcomed as a princess, Princess Akua Ohenewaa, was surreal. I plan to return to continue embracing that part of my heritage.
For my 34th birthday, I went to Belize, deep in the jungle. It was magical, except for the huge snake I still have flashbacks about, lol.
Every country left me with a story, a lesson, and a piece of myself I didn’t know was waiting there.
✨ Now I want to hear from you: Which country are you most curious about? Do you want the love story in Jamaica, the princess story in Ghana, the casino run in Canada, or maybe the tattoos in Mexico? Drop your pick in the comments and I’ll share those stories in detail in future blogs.
