I started solo traveling in 2015 and I’ve been hooked ever since! Recently, I made the decision to start my life over and travel the world full-time after selling, donating, and throwing out over 90% of my belongings!

If you didn’t know, only like 0.1% of the population are Afro-Salvadoran in El Salvador… so being Black, in a non tourist area, is not something that is typically normal. Earlier today, two kids kept circling me with their bicycles… smiling & staring… and eventually said “Buenos Dias.” Before riding off… there’s a good chance I’m 1st black person they have ever met in person. They were so adorable! Instead of ordering Uber Eats today, I decided to walk to a local restaurant… which happened to be PACKED watching the futbol game… and EVERYONE was staring like I was exotic. 😅 This was definitely a new experience for me. Although I don’t feel unsafe… it was slightly uncomfortable at first. I’m interested in seeing what’s it’s like in the city during my tours this week. #elsalvador #travel #solotravel #monniewashere
